Earth Day Pledges

As we observe Earth Day, there are some hopeful signs. The U.S. government recently hosted a climate change summit and pledged significant reductions in carbon emissions. Companies from around the world are acknowledging the urgency of climate change, with about a quarter of all Fortune 500 companies having credible climate targets for the year 2030. And if the pandemic has taught us one valuable lesson, it’s that with the right sense of urgency and support, science and society can work together to quickly manage a global emergency. So in terms of climate change, this points to the importance of education, as every organization and every government is composed of individuals who make the decisions that shape our world. If we can help society become better scientific thinkers who share a deeper connection to nature and a stronger conviction to protect what we have, then we will figure out a way to create a more sustainable planet for everyone.

At Green Ninja, we recognize that part of being an organization focused on education involves recognizing that some of this education should be directed internally. During this month of April and in honor of Earth Day, the Green Ninja team made personal pledges to deepen our own understanding of the connections between people and our planet. Folks from our team took different actions, but ultimately represented our own personal journey to reduce our environmental impact and strengthen our connection with nature and with others.

Below are some images from our team’s pledges.
