Green Ninja Science aligns with the goals of the Pope's Laudato Si’ encyclical.
“We have the opportunity to prepare a better tomorrow for all. From God's hands we have received a garden, we cannot leave a desert to our children,” - Pope Francis

Green Ninja Science was developed through research in partnership with San José State University
The Green Ninja educational framework combines scientific knowledge with the social dimensions of empathy for the environment and personal empowerment. In the chart shown here, student interest in the environment and creating local solutions increase over a school year when using the Green Ninja science curriculum.
Aligned 100% to the Next Generation Science Standards
Green Ninja combines standards-based core science education with real-world problem solving and action on climate and environmental topics.
Students become champions for change in their homes and communities as they learn the core science underlying today’s real-world issues.

The Green Ninja Difference
1. Using environmental solutions as a central theme for teaching science
2. Project-based learning through student-centered storylines
3. Flexible instructional tools and hands-on materials
4. Embedded assessments throughout each unit of instruction
One Student = 3 Tons of Carbon Reduction
Research from San José State University demonstrated that students who received a high-quality climate change education went on to reduce their carbon footprint by 2.9 tons per year.
With an estimated 12 million middle school students in the U.S., this type of education can make real environmental impact happen.

How can this be achieved?
Our standards-aligned curriculum teaches life, earth, and physical science through a project-based approach. Students apply what they’ve learned towards making a difference in their own community.
Examples of Green Ninja’s Impact on Students’ Lives
Green Ninja's curriculum helps students develop an awareness of how personal consumption impacts the environment. Science provides students with tools to do their part in caring for the planet. See below for examples of what students learn from each unit of our curriculum.
How to design a more energy efficient home
Grade 6 Unit 2 combines engineering design with energy transfer to study a zero-energy home. Students use these ideas and real-time energy data from their homes to create and implement a plan to reduce their household energy use.
How to cook a low-carbon meal
Grade 7 Unit 3 tracks energy as it moves from plants and organisms. Students keep a food diary as they learn about the chemical reactions of plants to develop a classroom cookbook of low-carbon recipes.
Learn about the efficiency of different transportation
Grade 8 Unit 5 explores the efficiency of different modes of transportation by investigating forces, motion, and energy transfer.
