Green Ninja for Black Lives Matter

To Our Green Ninja Community,

The recent protests around racial injustice have encouraged our team to reflect on our values and give voice to discussions on how we can better support the Black community. Our mission remains committed to working with underserved communities in order to educate upcoming generations about the effects of environmental challenges including climate change. People and the environment are intrinsically linked, and in order to create a sustainable planet, we must empower youth to create the type of change that helps people and the planet. This requires diverse perspectives from all groups, and we are committed to doing better to listen, to learn, and to take action around racial injustices.

Our team discussions have allowed us to develop short- and long-term goals as an organization to support Black communities.

  1. Green Ninja donates to charities every year, and we will choose to donate to organizations supporting Black communities in areas related to education, justice, and the environment.

  2. Though we have a diverse team in gender and ethnicity, we are committing to hiring African Americans to join our team, so we can further grow our community and our perspectives.

  3. Although we are already working in some Black communities, we will take additional steps to work with and partner with Black communities who are interested in our program.

  4. We’ve created a comprehensive list of resources to help, and our employees are taking steps to support the efforts of groups supporting racial justice within Black communities.

Though we encourage everyone to take steps to support racial justice, please stay safe and follow COVID-19 social distancing. With the regional differences in class inequality that are linked to ethnicity, the Black community has been affected more than most by the virus. Let’s all take steps to stay healthy, save lives, while supporting a cleaner and more just planet.
